DAY 5, 1 OCTOBER 2006
5th MORNING AT KOMAKI
1st DAY AT NAGOYA
Again, we watched an anime classic Akira late into the night. The production was spectacular and noone would ever believe that such a show was actually made 50 yrs ago. Wakey at 11am. Had our last meal in Komaki. We had Katsu Don for lunch. The ever-friendly Shigeo drove us to a nearby train station. We bid farewell to him b4 beginning on part 2 of our trip, to meet Patrick Miller, a.k.a Mr. Cheesedog. Upon arrival at Nagoya train station, we made a blunder of not identifying the exact name of out location. Both sides were waiting at train stations, but Patrick was waitin at the JR train station, while we were at the Meitetsu train station. So no matter what landmarks and exits Pat mentioned, we could nva find it cos’ we were waitin at the wrong place. Finally, after 4 days in Japan, it rained. We dropped our luggage at his place, n we went for dinner. We went to a vending machine restaurant, whereby u insert money into a vending machine, retrieve a ticket n present the ticket to the shop attendant n wait for ur food to be cooked n served. The drizzle had den turned into a downpour by the time we finished eatin, so we suggested headin back home. Played a few games with Pat on the game Soul Calibur 3, he was an opponent I cannot handle, ended in 4Win8Loss. After that we watched National Treasure on DVD. Comin out of shower, I drank sake with S.J, where we tokked abt wad has happened so far in our trip, the ups n downs, the good stuff n bad stuff, etc.. In case many of u wonder, Pat stayed in a bigger n better place compared to Shigeo. Pat worked as an English teacher in Nagoya. S.J kept sayin abt how lucky I was to know a person like Pat. Well…guess sometimes good things happen when u least expect it. Turned in to bed at 3am.
DAY 6, 2 OCT 2006
2nd DAY AT NAGOYA
We woke up and had lunch at the same vending machine restaurant again. S.J had a problem with his digicam’s battery charger, while I was struggling with a newly bought memory card for my digicam. Pat suggested we go to Big Camera for some solutions. As expected, it was way more expensive buying memory cards in Japan compared to Sim Lim Square. Damn…I almost had to pay double the price. The 1GB XD-Picture card I bought at sim Lim was not compatible with my Olympus C-750, so I bought a 512MB XD-Picture card which cost me a 5980 Yen bomb! We den took train via Higashiyama line to Sakae. I recognized that this was the same place we visited b4 when we went to Madarake n Toranoana, except this time, we went to Yellow Submarine. Wee After shoppin, we had dinner at this Italian-style restaurant, called Sazeiriya. As S.J’s battery charger situation was still not resolved, we went to another shop called Top Camera. Luckily, a helpful English-speakin staff worked dere, so communication was not a problem. Well, communication was nva really a problem for S.J, as he was JLPT 2. Back home, it was another Soul Calibur 3 session n den we watched V for Vendetta on DVD.
DAY 7, 3 OCT 2006.
3rd DAY AT NAGOYA
Woke up at 11.30am. Decided to have lunch at Sazeiriya, so took train again to Sakae. After lunch, S.J wanted to go to Mandarake once more, n so the 3 of us went together. Another 4-5 hours was spent at this building, so much so that the trip to Nagoya Castle had to be postponed. This time round, instead of takin a return train, we walked on feet back to Nagoya station. Pat brought us to a 12-storey Takashimaya. On the 12th storey, u could see the entire Nagoya city before ur eyes. Pat pointed out the Nagoya Castle to us, which could be seen amidst the skyscrapers n buildings. Pat had no appetite, so did S.J, so we decided to settle dinner with pre-made food sets from the nearby convenience shops. After shower, we told Pat to wait outside while we had a surprise for him. It was a PS2 game which he wanted n we gave it to him as a thank you gift for providing us with free accommodation. He was really happy n he made no haste in playin the game right away.
