FOC!~ FOC!~
Amazingly, the quality of the food for the 3-day camp improved. But at the same time, the serving decreased. Ironically, we experienced a food shortage on Day 1 evening, so much so that some GLs didn't get to eat. I also didn't get to eat. Luckily, Alwyn bought food back from Tampines Central for me while he went to buy his towel.
On Day 2, an unexpected downpour left the programmers with no choice but to hold their scavenger hunt in school. Again, we had the sports hall to ourselves, so it was ultimate frisbee time again. A couple of times, the frisbee bulleted towards the centre of the stage, almost hitting a human target. Poor Stacie, she was hit twice on the back of her head and it was Kai who made the 2 shots. Even more interesting was the part where Safari tried to put a cap on Stacies head to prevent the frisbee from knocking her again.
Soon after dinner, the main comm went back to the lounge to prepare for our skit. It was then that I realised Boon had the perfect costume for me to act as a tree, a dark-green poncho. With the bamboo stick slotted in between my shoulders, the Tree looked life-like. We did 1 final rehearsal, and it was off to the Sports Hall for performance night.
As usual, for some reason, the Log Comm couldn't arrive in time to make their grand entrance, they did so only after half of the empires have performed. The performance night dragged on for quite some time, so much so that the lights were out when it was nearly the Main Comm's turn to present our skit. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the short skits, dances, mostly dances by the freshies. The production from Butterfly Entertainment was superb!~ , n' I could dare say it was the longest item among all the other performances. Next up was a mini Jam & Hop. We moved and grooved to the beat, rhythm and music, and had helloffa jolly good time. The main comm debrief on the 2nd night of the camp proved to be the most memorable one.
Day 3,
as soon after breakfast, Alwyn n' I began asking the GLs to take food orders for lunch. For some reason, lunch was not provided on the last day of the camp. Everyone were given 3 choices of food, chinese, western and muslim. When collection time came, it was total chaos, as the international students were also having their lunch in Bizpark. Fortunately, Alwyn the problem-solver was around to rescue the day. Strangely, some GLs who paid for their food didn't get them, but eventually, their food arrived. It was also during lunch time, that I got to know 2 freshies from the Neon empire. I was walking around asking which empire havn't got their food, then that's when I saw the 2 freshies. I walked pass, then turned back, approached them and introduced myself.
Feeling bored after lunch, with nothing to do, I walked around the school to the games stations. Coincidentally, every station I went to, the Neon sub-empire was there.
Once again, hell broke loose during Final Clash, as there were so many things happening during the same time, and we had to spot for fouls and casualties.
Then came the time when we had our mass debrief for the FOC. The moments were tear-jerking as the graduates were talking about their lives in TP, and the impact FOC had in their stay in TP. Unexpectedly, hanwooOOooOOiii was the first one to cry. I have heard him cry on the phone a couple of times before, but this was the very first time he cried in public.
After the mass debrief, it was the individual empire photo-taking session. I couldn't believe myself. I actually had the cheek to request for a photo taken with a freshie!~ That night, the main comm held out debrief in the Sports Hall, where we said a few words on how we felt about this FOC. We talked and talked until the security had to chase us out by warning us that the guard dogs will be patrolling the place very soon. So, we moved to the outside of the sports hall facing the tennis court, where each of us received our certificates.
We took cabs from sch to Tampines Central, where we would go to the CPF building as a TP tradition. Boy, I was shocked by the turnout there. Every empire was there. We wanted to buy makan from Mac, but the staff told us that their supply has ran out. Out of nowhere, hanwei managed to kapoh 1 whole tray of french fries.
The cheeky me decided to sit in the Neon empire to play games with them. Never did I expect them to gang up on me. In the twinkling of an eye, I've lost 3 times in the ti-ti-tiu game, and had to do forfeit. First was business dance, second was to ask a freshie for her name and number, and third was to say I HATE RADON in front of the Radon empire. As time passes, more and more people went home. We were the remaining 1 group at CPF building. Tat Ming taught us how to play the hand game and the Sha!~ Fan sha!~ game. On a rainy night, time passed by as we indulged ourselves in these reaction games. At around 5:45am, we left the place, and it was still raining.
It was on May Friday the 13th, that I started having bad coughs, head spinning, sore throat, loss of voice and full of phelgm.
